Details of Experience:
Linda was admitted to Green Hills Center for Rehabilitation and Healing on September 1, 2020 from Vanderbilt University Medical Center after spinal fusion surgery. A native Tennessean, she had been having lots of back and leg problems, including trouble standing up straight due to severe pain. After going to her primary care doctor, she was referred to a Vanderbilt surgeon specializing in spinal fusion procedures. While there, the doctors and case workers researched and suggested places for her to go for rehabilitation. Her son and husband made the decision for her to come to Green Hills Center.

Upon arrival at the Green Hills Center for Rehabilitation and Healing, Linda was greeted by the warm and friendly receptionist and staff. Linda was not able to participate in a tour but was very happy with her room and all of the staff. She mentioned she didn’t have to ask for anything when she first arrived because the room was prepared with everything she needed. Throughout her stay, Linda shared she felt safe due to the strict COVID-19 protocols the community had in place for both patients and staff.

Linda got right to working hard and her outcomes have been extraordinary. The therapists, she says, help her days pass quickly and she loves them. “I really have started to think about them as family,” she says. “I’ve gotten very close to Ms. Karen and Ms. Vivian.” Linda is now able to sit up in bed and move to the edge of the bed independently for activities and eating meals. She made monumental strides in her recovery. Linda said, “Therapy doesn’t seem like therapy, it seems like two friends just making conversation and having fun.” Upon discharging from Green Hills Center, Linda looks forward to returning home to East Tennessee where she will work inside and outside the house with her husband. Through her therapy regiment, Linda has a lot of movement back to help her with her day to day activities. Not only did the Green Hills staff make an impact in her life, but she also has made a big impact on the team here.

All of the staff wish her a healthy recovery and will continue to support her on her journey every day.
